A warm, play-based preschool experience in
the heart of
Elmvale

Since 1988, Elmvale Co-operative Nursery School (ECNS) has provided a safe, nurturing, and engaging early learning environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive through play. Located within St. John’s United Church, ECNS is a part-time, non-profit preschool program designed for children ages 2.5 to 5 years.

At ECNS, we believe children learn best through exploration, creativity, and meaningful relationships. Our play-based program encourages social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development while helping children build confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

What makes
ECNS special

~ Play-based learning inspired by Ontario’s early years pedagogy
~ Caring, experienced Early Childhood Educators
~ Small class sizes and a welcoming environment
~ Strong family involvement and community connection
  ~ Flexible enrollment options
~ A focus on kindness, cooperation, and curiosity

Our Philosophy

Every child is unique, capable, and full of potential. We create an inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore the world around them at their own pace.

Through child-led play and educator-supported learning, children develop important life skills including communication, problem solving, self-regulation, creativity, and collaboration.

Programs

ECNS offers part-time preschool programming from September through June.  Children must be at least 30 months old on their first day of class.

Class Schedule:
   Monday & Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
   Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Family
Involvement

As a co-operative nursery school, families play an important role in our community. Parent and caregiver involvement helps create a strong connection between home and school while supporting a positive learning environment for all children.

Families are encouraged to participate in classroom activities, events, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

A Place to Belong

At ECNS, we strive to create meaningful early experiences that help children feel confident, connected, and excited to learn. We are proud to be part of the Elmvale community and look forward to welcoming new families each year.
